Cookie Policy
This policy explains how the BodyMindOT website uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. It is written in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as local storage, also store small amounts of information in your browser. Together they help a website remember your choices and function correctly.
This site relies on browser local storage rather than traditional cookies for its own features, but the rules are the same, so we explain everything here for transparency.
2. What we use, and why
We use a small number of strictly necessary / functional items only. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics or cross-site tracking.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
lang |
Local storage (functional) | Remembers your chosen language (English or Chinese) so the site displays in your preference. | Until you clear it |
cookie-ok |
Local storage (functional) | Remembers that you have seen and dismissed our cookie notice, so it is not shown again. | Until you clear it |
Because these are strictly necessary or functional and store only your own preferences, they do not require prior consent under PECR. We show a brief notice about them for transparency.
3. Third-party services
We keep third-party services to a minimum. Where they are used, those third parties may receive limited technical information (such as your IP address) and set their own cookies under their own policies:
- Enquiry form — our enquiry form is hosted on Google Forms. The form is not embedded in this website, so nothing is loaded from Google unless you choose to open it. If you do open it, Google may set its own cookies under its own policy. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Google Fonts — we use Google Fonts to display our typefaces. When a page loads, your browser may request font files from Google's servers, which can involve Google receiving your IP address. Google Fonts does not set advertising cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Social media links — our site links to our profile on Instagram. This is an ordinary link; Instagram only receives information about you, and may set its own cookies, if you click through and visit it.
- Website hosting — our site is hosted by our hosting provider, which may process limited technical data (such as server logs) to deliver and secure the site.
We do not control third-party cookies. Please refer to each provider's own cookie or privacy policy to manage them.
4. What we do not use
For clarity, this website does not use:
- advertising or marketing cookies;
- analytics or performance-tracking cookies (for example, Google Analytics);
- cross-site or social-media tracking pixels;
- profiling or automated decision-making based on your browsing.
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (such as analytics) in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent through the cookie notice before they are used.
5. How to control or remove them
You are always in control. You can:
- clear this site's stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser's site data / local storage for this website;
- manage or block cookies and local storage through your browser settings; and
- use your browser's private / incognito mode, which clears such storage when you close it.
Because the items we use are functional, clearing them simply means the site will forget your language choice and will show the cookie notice again. It will not stop the site working.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
